  • Reflections and Reality Check for 2018 + Goal Setting Guidelines

Can you take a moment to answer these questions?
They are Retrospective, Introspective and Prospective.

Answers to some of these reality check questions may make you think deep down, help you realize you’re holding on to what you should let go and give you clarity for the new year.

Hint: Get a pen and a jotter.

And you can comment below for help if it’s too overwhelming for you to deal with.

    1. Looking back over the past year, who and what am I grateful for?

(Send the people a text to show your gratitude).

You know those people who have actually impacted your life. They are your special angel all-through 2018, they made the experience worthwhile for you. There’s no better time to appreciate them than now.

    2. What top 3 things do I wish I had done differently in the past year?

    (Be honest with yourself)

    3. What top 3 lessons have I learnt over the past year?

    (Think deep)

    4. What did I do very well in the past year that I need to repeat and do better or more in the new year?

(Don’t be shy or petty; give yourself the accolades you deserve)

    5. What do I need to let go of that I have carried over from the past year or previous years?

(Let it out. Face your monster. Write down every baggage you need to let go. Sever ties with those fake friends and don’t bat an eyelid about it)

    6. Based on my experiences and encounters over the past year and previous years, who do I need to forgive?

(Calm down, take a deep breath and identify who you need to forgive. While answering this, I actually cried. Sometimes, when we take a deep breath and try to exhale, tears stream down our eyes with the air we breathe out. After identifying those people, please send a text telling them you forgive them.
Just pour out your mind so you can move on)

    7. Who do I need to celebrate, reward or appreciate verbally and otherwise?

    (Send them a text today!)

    Those were the retrospective questions.

    REALITY CHECK: INTROSPECTIVES QUESTIONS

    10. What do I consider as my top 3 weaknesses right now and what do I plan to do about them?

    11. What do I consider my top 3 strengths and how do I plan to maximize them?

    12. What is my big dream for 2019?

(Give details. Have clarity. Include a location)

    13. What is God’s plan for me now?

    14. What 3 habits am I going to develop this year, and how do I plan to develop them?

    15. What 3 relationships must I break or redefine this year?

(Delete their contacts if need be.
You know what has affected us so much and made us stay with garbage?
The saying that “You don’t know where you’ll meet in the future”
Please, leave all the trash for LAWMA.
Stop stringing along someone that isn’t good for you)

    16. Which 3 people do I want to meet, to learn from, more closely this year?

    17. What are the 3 things I have been procrastinating this year that I must do in 2019?

    18. What are the top 3 negative attitudes I am perceived to have?

  • My Thoughts on Adeniji Lois’s Spur Nation Magazine!

My Thoughts on Adeniji Lois’s Spur Nation Magazine!

A month ago, I was invited to an award ceremony at MVB lounge, one of the household name in the lounge and bar business in the city of Ibadan. The event went well, there I was flattered with an award which I don’t really think was meant for me. lol

But in the lieu of the event, I was introduced to a young lady who I was told had some craziness in her vein – you know what I refer to as crazy, huh? Creativity!

She was to launch a youth focused magazine. The idea was to showcase young people doing great things in their own little ways against all odds and permutations. I like the idea within the first few minutes of the pitch, but I’d rather have a review of the prototype to say, I am sold to the idea.

We exchanged contact and agreed to have a look as soon as the first draft is out.

To cut the short story long, mind my words. They are intentional!

The copy was delivered to me last two weeks, but I wasn’t that free to jump on it.

I was just getting chance to read the materials.

Adeniji Lois Oluwaseun SPUR NATION MAGAZINE review by Olawale Daniel
Olawale Daniel, also known as Doctor Residual took his time out to review and share his thoughts on Adeniji Lois Oluwaseun’s new project titled: SPUR NATION MAGAZINE. You can read his findings below.

And I must confess, it was spot on; there are words of elders spewing out of nowhere from all the pages of that little piece called spur nation magazine. To say I am proud of Adeniji Lois Oluwaseun’s effort so far would definitely be an understatement.

The story connects, the motivation on the second page about alter ego makes much more sense to the reader; it humbles the soul, and inspires a comeback of out someone who has once lost all hopes just like Tyson Fury did last month in his fight against Deontae Wilder. Though, he had been knocked out, if the rules of the games were to be followed, had it been he had failed to rise up.

Anybody can come back and reclaim what was once thought had been lost for life. You can truly come back and dominate…that page makes that statement realizable.

What else? Is it the story of Amole Adunola (Dundelle) whose tenacity had opened doors of opportunities for her up to states levels, or the desire to even go a little bit further to establishing what would later be recalled as the largest gathering by a female artist in the city of Ibadan? That was inspiring especially for young ladies out there who had found it difficult to accept who they are and profit from it.

Or should I talk about those unfriendly-friendly aspects of many looming businesses you see out there on day to day basis. Amoizin’s story reminds me of Seun Bamiro of YNorth Wears’s story at last month’s Ibadan Design Conference in which myself, Tolani Alli (the official photographer to the current Oyo State Governor) and host of others were present at. Our desire to solve problems will leads to actualization of all our greatest desires and dreams.

Just like John F Kennedy puts it, we shouldn’t ask what the community can do for us, but we should ask what we can do to help our community. It didn’t end there, he stresses further saying “for service to many leads to prosperity”. If we want to make money, want fulfillment, we should think of ways to solve more problems around us. In doing that, we attract people who would be willing to help solve our individual and greatest of all problems – be it money, fame or whatever. Ajeigbe Richard of Amoizin decided to solve the problem of not having different varieties of local food to select in the neighborhood – that’s a big problem indeed. In fact, I’d love to patronize his ewa agoyin business anytime soon. Lol

Oh, I must not forget to say something on the special effect on page 9 and page 10 of the magazine featuring Nigeria’s own local and international Afropello brand! She had said it all. There are many hidden words of wisdom embedded in every line of those texts. It would take an extra careful and endowed mind to read between the lines to really get to the root of some of the things she couldn’t share on those pages. The body language from the photo-shoot to the challenging aspect of the business – you will surely find something to unravel except you are not so keen to decrypt them.

Anyway, I picked something from there – and that is, water must be my friend to live well. There are many ways drinking clean water often helps in cell regeneration which could later on influence hair growth. And in the context of her writing, she was inspiring us to share some H20 with our hair if we desire to have one worth boasting of. The rest of the advices are for the ladies anyway – lol!

Going forward, when you talk about the South Africa’s madiba we all know as Nelson Mandela, we see a man who went against all odds to fight for freedom that many South Africans are enjoying today.

He once said “when a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace” and I truly agree with that. Maybe that was why he left so soon after he had done his best for his country and the black race! But there comes a time we need to look back at the great works these people had done and compare them to what we are having in this new era. Do we have any resemblance?

To some people, they may say we can’t find someone who could rise up tall against slavery, injustice and all manner of things that are bad in our society as Mandela again. Some believed it is possible.

But I am proud to tell you I belong to the possibility family where I think Daramola Iyanuloluwa also hails from. Reading her piece in the SPUR Words section of the magazine reminds me of nobody else but Madiba. I believe we all don’t really need shooting skills; neither do we need to be a great swordsman before we could win the war against slavery because slavery has actually advanced from what the madiba of then fought against.

Now we have mental slavery which a 400L student of Psychology at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is trying to fight with her proficiency in the act of wordsmithing.

From the first page to the last page, I read content, saw potentials and spot the need for much more improvements in the next edition. I am very sure next edition would be so filled with more than this. In fact, more is an understatement because this is the first prototype of what would end up becoming an household name in the city of Ibadan and the rest of the country as an a magazine that encourages younger one to follow and pursue their dreams with all seriousness.

I was blessed with it and pray and hope she could garner more enthusiasm to move the Spur Nation magazine project up the ladder. I know she can and she will.

If you want a copy of Spur Nation Magazine, drop me a message below. I will try to get one across to you.

  • Join My 31 Days Gratitude Challenge If You Want Your 2019 to Be Lit???

It is for one good reason to flock with the right people; so you could live a good and positive life. You are influenced by those you move with. As a matter of fact, you are a by-product of five of your best friends (people you spent more time with).

Talking about those I spent my time with on an every day basis, they’d be those amazing consistent WhatsApp status updater on my list.

The Stephan, the Toyin Tolase, the Akpan Idy, the Kolade Moore and host of others. They are too many to put a name on.

I woke up every morning to reading motivational quotes and inspiring thoughts from these spectacular people.

This morning, I was inspired to start a 31 days gratitude attitude journey. My November had been a long month with lots of crazy and unimaginable stuffs going on on my mind. But awakening to the call to be grateful for everything is worth more than wasting more of my time deliberating on those bygone experiences.

Toyin Tolase in particular inspired this 31 Days Gratitude Challenge, and I’m sending back my word to her that – oh yeah, we can be positive in all things.

Immediate my mind went far back to those days of selling firewood before I could be able to raise money for my transportation to school. Or should I mention the days of doing Bricklayer’s errand jobs? Or is it countless number of greater goods I’ve achieved in this world. Oh, maybe those aren’t worthy of a mention. Is it the good old days of having to spend just #20 Naira (about $0.25 cent as at then) on three square meal?

Aren’t those the past already? I agree they were my past.

Yeah, today, I can afford to buy myself a dream car which was literally impossible then. Ain’t gratitude attitude my next agenda on the table?

Okay, I can understand driving ain’t fun to you, yeah, I also fly occasionally like you do too. Paying for airfare ain’t joke. That attracts some decent amount of money.

Or maybe we talk about the bad old days…I’m sure you might get the drill of what this 31 Days Gratitude Challenge is all about.

For the record, I once wrote about Gratitude Attitude in one of my past posts.

    Short Story About My Past

At the age of 3, I was involved in a domestic accident which almost took away my left leg. Today, I’d have been working with sticks. The story is a very long one. As I could remember, there was a construction work going on in my grandfather’s compound then. I was there on holiday. You know those third term holidays that takes almost three quarters of the year? That was it. I was playing with this concrete mixture machine. I learnt to drive the best fleets of car with maneuvering skills in my childhood days. If you know, you know. I could bring out car out of nowhere to drive – from used tyres to cover lid machines and all of sorts.
The zeal to drive anything dragged me to that innocent concrete mixing machine that was jejely packed in the compound. The innocent me thought this machine was brain dead and locked. I mounted on its wheel control it as I would in real time Paul Walker body. May his soul rest in peace.
Unfortunately for me then, but fortunate because it has been written to take place. So I can’t argue with destiny.
The machine rolled the other side with my left leg hung in its wheel. Boom?, the unfortunate event of the time ?. The ? effect of getting rolled thrice in a concrete mixing machine dawned on my innocent soul. I passed out for days but thank God, I can talk about it today.

You know the pain of having to see your friends walking, jumping and doing all kind of stuffs and you can’t. You can’t play ball, run around to make things happen for yourself. That’s life threatening right?

Or countless of times I escaped physical, mental and psychological accidents of life?

Or the event of one’s time I usually refer to as life drama. Life drama takes place every once in a while in some people’s lives while some get served life drama pepper soup every day of the week.

You can’t be so grateful if you’ve not been served this kind of stew. I’m not referring to Wizkid and Tiwa Savage kind of stew. I mean the Life Drama that Abolore Akande (also known as 9ice) sings about in his song.

My aim and prayer for you is, you’ll always be battle ready to face your life drama. You can’t escape your life drama. They make or break you. If you face them confidently, you will triumph and be who you were destined to be. But if you run, they break you down to make yoi who you don’t want. We talk about this in the future or read simplifying greatness.

Now back to why all rave about this 31 Days Gratitude Challenge. There aren’t more days to 2019. In fact, we have less than 31 days for us to bid 2018 farewell.

I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I don’t have to struggle to get some things done. And when I look back, I realized the pattern of my growth and the most important tool that has worked for me so far, and that is, gratitude attitude.

Being grateful has helped me forge ahead so much that whenever I leave the path of gratitude, I tend to go backward than I could ever have imagined.

I discovered this magic wand sometimes back, and my dream and purpose is for you to also use it to your advantage.

  • TGIS – Let Go Of What Makes You Stop This Weekend!

    TGIS!

    Yeah,

    It is here once again!

Another weekend filled with excitements and activities.

Trust your week has been amazing?

Mine has been exciting. Lots of positives to take home for the week ending today.

But that doesn’t mean all was smooth and rosy as the week goes by…but just that, I CHOOSE TO STAY POSITIVE along the journey.

    I bet you do too!

Meanwhile, I write you today to inspire you NOT TO GIVE UP yet even if the week hasn’t turned out the way you have anticipated.

The fact there is, you can still get a lot done even at this last minute.

Oh, you are afraid the year is passing like a rocket and yet you’ve not moved in into your dream home? Or is it your dream car that is causing you depression? Or maybe it is your family due to shortage in finance?

Whatever that may be holding you down, LET GO!

Believe in miracle. There is a God of Last Minutes. I wrote about this three years ago and the advice and words of impartation in that article is still relevant till date. Everything you have wished and hoped for in 2018 will still come true, IF YOU BELIEVE!

LET GO – Unveil the beast in you for this world!

Let go of what (anything) makes you stop in the first place. If it is fear that made you to pause on your journey to fulfilment, let it go. You can do without it.

Maybe your friends are the cause of the most precarious pain you are suffering from, just let them go.

Learn to let go of anyone or anything that would make you less of your true self. #LETGO.

In closing, the only thing that matters in this world is for you to live a good life. Don’t allow anyone to dictate how you will live your life for you, let them go if they try to hold you back.

This weekend is for you to reflect back on how your week has been and take out the positives and learn from the negatives.

Next week is gonna be boom for you! Massive accomplishments on your cards; record sales if you are into sales, new leads, house warming, child christening, car dedication and many other great things.

All it takes to get all, or any, of these is a little act of self belief in yourself and also in miracle that, dream do come true!

    Have a great weekend.
