  • Counterfeit Gurus vs Saudi Prince

    Hey Olawale

It was easier in the old days

Back then you could actually spot the phonies.

The used car salesman was slimy and sleazy.

The pushy insurance salesman was as brazen as a carnival barker.

And you could recognize a counterfeit gold coin by biting down on it, because the gold was softer than any base metal they might have mixed with it.

But these days it’s harder to tell the snake oil from the real deal.

So let’s get a quick lesson on frauds from the counterfeit Saudi Prince.

Investors worldwide called him, “His Royal Highness Khalid bin al-Saud.”

You could tell he was coming when you saw a fleet of Rolls Royces and Ferraris.

And then there was his diamond-draped Chihuahua with the designer-doggie outfits who rides around in a $2,690 Louis Vuitton doggie carrier.

But that’s just a warm up.

The “Prince” was recently involved in negotiations to buy a major stake in the Fontainebleau hotel in Florida… $440 million was his expected contribution.

Plus, “His Royal Highness” was selling early shares for the proposed initial public offering of Aramco, the monster Saudi oil company (it was a 2 trillion dollar IPO until the plan was scrapped by the Saudi government).

OK, so the guy painted a pretty good picture of how a prince should look and act… which made investors come pounding on his door waving fistfuls of cash.

    But who was he really?

Well, the person who’s now awaiting trial in a Federal Detention Center in Miami, is actually named Anthony Enrique Gignac.

He was adopted by a Michigan couple when he was 6 years old and has become one of the best con artists of all time.

But now he’s being tried for fraud, identity theft, traveling on a fake passport, and impersonating a foreign official.

Bernie Madoff’s got nothing on him!

And what’s this got to do with you?

    Everything.

Because if you’ve been scammed by internet experts and gurus, you’re not alone.

    I have, too.

And working in the industry as “an expert,” I’ve seen what goes on behind-the-scenes with entrepreneurs who I would have thought were really hauling in the big bucks.

Yet so many of them barely have two nickels to rub together.

    It’s really a shame.

So how do you know who to trust?

[That’s actually the wrong question, but we’ll ask the right one in a minute.]

To figure out who to trust requires patience and due diligence.

The patience part is about testing teachers, experts, and “gurus” with something inexpensive and small.

Stick a toe in the water and see if they deliver.

You can also tell a lot by the company they keep.

Do they have testimonials and endorsements from reputable folks you recognize and trust?

But the REAL question is about how YOU can build trust with your prospects, customers, and your growing list.

Would you communicate consistently and honestly?

Would you deliver on your promises?

Would you admit and correct mistakes?

Then, turn this around and you’ll discover your own internal criteria for trust.

Then create that same environment for YOUR list.

And most important of all is the safety net you create for your business when your list is solid.

Because there’s nothing phony about a loyal, predictable, and highly-responsive gang of raving fans.

  • Opinions are never facts – Tope Fabusola

    I remember years ago.

I found out that a friend of mine had an opinion I strongly disagreed with.

This was not a case of whether Coke tastes better than Pepsi or if Messi was better than Ronaldo.

I’m talking about an issue that I strongly believed could affect the rest of our lives. Yet, here we were with opposing views.

    I couldn’t take it.

So, I sent him a message as a caring friend, calmly trying to win him over. He resisted. I refused to yield.

At the end of the day, we both stuck to our guns and had to give up.

Years later, I found out I was wrong. I missed out some things. Maybe this matter wasn’t even as important as I thought it was.

So, I found him again. Went through his profile. Read a few of his recent posts. Then it hit me.

He had switched his views too!

The very view I tried selling him on earlier. The one he poopooed that day. The same view I had just dropped. Now, he was promoting it on his wall.

He had become me and I, him!

So, I went into his inbox one more time. A caring friend as always.

We talked for a while and relived past memories. I mentioned the change in his views amidst laughter. He told me the reason he changed.

I smiled and said my goodbye. I never mentioned it again.

Sorry to disappoint, but I didn’t argue this time. Why should I?

You see, a few years earlier, I could have sworn I was right, but was I? Now that we have swapped roles, who is truly right?

I have since grown up, man.

    Opinions are opinions.

The very idea of being right while others are wrong is the reason why many are at each other’s throats. It is why many fail.

If everyone decides to make everyone else see they are right, my worry is that who then would be left?

We see the world in colour — not black and white.

Opinions are never facts, my friend.

There are many things I held as the holy grail in the past. Now, I cringe even thinking about them.

I don’t apologise for my opinions. Neither should you. Even then, I keep my opinion to myself. No one made me the guardian of all truth.

You see, even if I am sure that I’m right…

I can still be surely wrong.

Doctor Residual Podcast; Daily Musings of Olawale Daniel Coming To Your Screens

In about three decades on this planet, I’ve had my own share of what could be counted as ups and downs of life!
The Ups tells more about those beautiful moments of life where everywhere you turn, there’d be something to smile about. Things are just working, either as planned, or as orchestrated by nature.
The Downs on the other hands reminds us of choices we made. We were reminded of what needed to be done, the action we have taken which might have brought about the present experiences. The downs, most of the times aren’t always sweet, but embedded in them are; sweet and honey comb filled with wisdom for future life battles and challenges.
On this page, I’d be sharing both of the UPs and the Downs of my day to day journey!
My expectations are that, one day, you’ll look back at your life and be able to give glory to God for sending those beautiful memories filled with Ups and Downs; because they are the factors that makes a true man or a virtuous woman!

  • OLAWALE SINGS – TALENTED AND RESOURCEFUL

OLAWALE is coming back! He is qualified to be amongst those jostling for the Man of the Year Award.

I love what Olawale did. You can’t just let the social media frenzies drain you and get you depressed. He was accepted when money and fame were his best friend.

But when the tide turns, social friends took a bow. He then had to change his friends.

He used one of the gift he got when the going was smooth to make things work out for himself.

What is bad in driving Uber?

    Absolutely, nothing.

Fame is a disease that limits beings.

Don’t let it get to you until you are prepared for it financially, emotionally and psychologically.

    You can and you will.

do_action hackathon – Olawale Daniel shares the zeal behind his passion for CSR

I wrote a short testimony about the book “Drops From My Heart” last three months. It was given to me, and the rest of my WordPress’s do_action hackathon team in Lagos. But, in that post, I failed to upload pictures of the rest of the team. I personally think they all deserved some accolades as well. 🙂

Olawale Daniel and the rest of the Lifes Beacon Initiative development group at do_action hackathon at Don Bosco, Lagos. The event took place in July 2018.

Anyway, let’s get to read some little stuff before I tell you what next!

    HOW IT ALL WENT!

We spent hours coding writing, making jest of our creations, and at the end of the day! BOOM sha shaa shaaa!

We won the grand prize with this amazing Life’s Beacon Initiative website coming as the winner amongst all other creatives from other colleagues.

You may want to know what “Hackathon” mean in the real sense of it. Or maybe you wanna know why WordPress is going all out to promote this cause. I will delve more into that soonest!

It is a charity minded initiative of WordPress to empower the community in order to give back through social responsibility acts. On that day, we have 6 different team comprises of graphic designers, web programmers, content creator and curators, social media influencers, and quality control experts etc. The main goal was to design a brand new and functional website in ONE DAY and present them to the world.

When I mean BRAND NEW WEBSITE, I am not talking of just the homepage or some slideshow website. I mean, a 21st century WooCommerce ready website that’s capable of taking online donation and payments at a glance without leakages. A do_action hackathon is about thinking out solution where lots of problems does exist.

    But did we achieve that?

Literally, we did but not up to 100%!

The design was up as around 4PM that day and we are not yet set to present the stuffs to the amazing panel of judges lead by Mr. Oluseun Taylor and Mary Job.

    Did we won!

Yeah, we were announced as the winner based on accessibility and the level of professionalism and some other metrics known to the team anyway.

Enough of this late night story telling.
“Drops from my Heart” by Dr. Olulade Ebenezer is worth reading.

    Here you go!
    WordPress is fun!

  • EMBERS must obey!

About two years ago, I wrote It’s EMBERICALLY going to great. Lots of good stuff have been written since then. Quite large number of souls have been blessed by that small but mighty piece of creativity and ultimate inspiration from above.

Fast forward to this year, we are stronger than ever before. Meanwhile, we ain’t got any fear for the Embers as we used to.

Gone are the days when Embers month scares us like hell. God has given us dominion over the months of ember.

We now dominate the Embers because we ain’t reporting:

    • Accident or loss of lives
    • Failure or disappointment
    • Regression or depression
    • And all of those negatives that others experienced on day-to-day during the ember months.

Just that it is EMBERICALLY going to be amazing these remaining months of the year 2018.

Don’t be afraid of ember months. Speak peace into your ember months.

    Shalom.
