NIGERIANS VISIT CHELSEA’S WEBSITE MORE THAN BRITISH, states The SM JURY

Authorities in the field of ICT, Social Media and Entertainment gathered together at the Goethe Institute in Lagos to harness ways of moving the Country forward at the just concluded Social Media Jury.
In her opening speech, award winning Publicist and convener for the Social Media Jury, Tonia Odili, welcomed all participants and stated that the theme for the Jury ,’’Social Media; the New Global Currency’’ was carefully selected to reflect on ways to develop the economy.
She added that Nigerians can make so much relevance out of the various online platforms.
Speaking at the event, Google’s Brand Activation Lead in Sub-Saharan Africa, Lanre Aina, revealed that more Nigerians visit Chelsea FC website than British.
He went further to state that going by Google’s search, ‘’17% of visitors on Chelsea’s website are Nigerians’’.
Popular Social Media influencer and activist, Japheth Omojuwa, who spoke at the event, advised participants to use the various platforms very well even if they choose to use one, with much intensity they can build an empire from it.
He went further to say the global world has no boundaries anymore, thanks to Social Media.
In a similar way, the co-founder of Digital Media Development initiative and Social Media activist, Blossom Ozurumba, advised participants to build networks on Social Media, she added that ‘’relationship is greater than money’’.
Abiola Fabio, CEO of Erdters, highlighted the steps in building a Social Media Plan, he concluded that engagement is Key on any platform.
Events like this has provided an enabling platform for young creative entrepreneurs and SME’s to meet and have a one on one interaction with thought leaders whist being stimulated by best practice scenarios in a round table panel.
The Social Media Jury which will reconvene in July was well anchored by award winning On Air Personality, Onoge Tega Ben, popularly known as OTB.
Looking at the figures on the table, one would agree that Chelsea Football Club shares the largest percentage of football fans in Nigeria.
